MPM16- Audio Project Proposal

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF SUBURBIA

I will be doing an audio piece. It connects with the social aspect of the modern era. My piece will cover the sounds that one would hear while traveling from home in suburbia to work downtown. It is presumed that living in suburbia will result in a stress and worry-some free life.I am going to focus on the stress that the real world brings to everyone, regardless of where one lives, income levels, race and gender. My piece shows the routine of traveling downtown and back home again. As the worker gets closer to downtown, the mood of the sounds change in a more a stressful direction.   As the worker travels home again, the sounds becoming quieter and more relaxing.  Since this is an audio piece, one will have to use their imagine to create the character in the story. Every new listener will bring a new character to the story.

My work will portray different moods throughout different times of the piece. At the beginning and end, the listener should get a sense of comfort with the familiar sounds associated with home. From the feeling of comfort, I tried to portray anxiety and stress by associating these emotions with sounds found during rush hour and downtown.Through out the middle, the listener should feel a sense of boredom as does the character in the story, while they are at work. I did not add any sound effects to my piece (other than the fade in and cross fades) because I want to keep the sounds as realistic as possible. If the sounds are realistic, the story/ journey will stay believable to the listener. By hearing familiar sounds, the listener can make relations to the story at some point in the track.

In conclusion, I chose to create a medley of these sounds because I wanted to create a story that portrayed the different emotions that are felt on a daily basis. I wanted to make something that everyone can relate to, and by filling my piece with different emotions, one will be able to relate to it at least once throughout the story. I ensured the volume levels of the different sounds corresponded with the mood they  portray. Putting the different tracks together with smooth transitions, my understanding of how to record tracks, and how to edit them. My work  is something that everyone can relate to;  it will evoke emotions that are commonly felt on a daily basis.

Assignment 1, Step 4

What did I learn while trying to get my name on google? The main thing i learned is how hard it is for google to know about you. Before this assignment, I assumed just creating the website itself will be enough to have my name found on google. Little did i know that I needed several different meta tags just to make my website get noticed by google.  It is so important to have a good digital profile because at any point, anyone can google you and you have to make sure that they’ll be satisfied with what they find. If your digital profile corresponds with what you do (photography website if you want to go into photography) you will have more success getting hired than if your digital profile portrays reveals negative aspects of yourself.
